Introduction to the book.
This is the 100th Anniversary of the publishing of Demian. It is a story about two students who are learning about mysticism and the arcane esoteric studies that would lead them into the First World War.
Hermann Hesse wrote a lot of books, The Prodigy or Unterm Rad, Steppenwolf, Demian, Siddhartha, and Magister Ludi and the Glass Bead Game or Der Glasperlenspiel. He was one of the favorite authors of the 60s hippie era.

Skid Row Santa
The normal Santa Claus flies on a sled pulled by 8 tiny reindeer. He goes to people's houses and leaves presents behind.
The skid row Santa Claus sits on a metal skid row bed pulled by cockroaches. He goes to people's houses and steals their presents and whatever drugs they might have lying around.

Bowe Bergdahl Release How it could have ended
Sgt Bowe Bergdahl of the United States Army was released in a prisoner exchange with the Taliban.
The CIA special forces agent frisked Sgt Bergdahl, and then, unflappable as ever, he threw the bag that Bergdahl was carrying to the ground.
This is how it could have ended.
The Islamic design on the bag is symbolic of the brainwashing he went through.
